The songs we know almost instinctively suddenly felt different: more exposed, more emotional, definitely cinematic ( yes they cn get more cinematic unbelievably) And somehow, it was still impossible not to move. Smooth Criminal. Rock With You. Remember the Time. The quartet absolutely nailed the funk, the rhythm and those little musical nuances that make you realise just how extraordinary Jackson was as an artist. ✨ Earth Song 🎻Which as you can imagine were emotional and beautiful (they didn’t do Dirty Diana but with that dramatic Cello ALREADY between chorus and verse that would have been epic. 😮 I even chuckled when it first started because it was just so good. You’d recognise a tiny vocal flourish, an arrangement or an ad-lib and think: oh my God, they’ve heard that too. I also loved how much the quartet clearly appreciated Jackson. They dropped in little facts between songs, and hearing them genuinely excited about the music made the whole thing feel much more personal. The opening had the whole room hooked. Beautiful playing, gorgeous setting, candlelight everywhere — and a reminder of just how much range there is in those songs. If you’re a serious MJ fan, this is a very, very good summer night out.
